Preparing for Surgery
If a surgery is planned for you, please follow this list of
instructions to help ensure a smooth process and a successful recovery:
- Prior To/The Day Before Your Surgery:
- Pick up your prescription at your pharmacy. Sequoia Hospital does
not fill post-operative medications
- Do not take aspirin products for 5 days prior to surgery. You may
take Tylenol.
- The Preadmissions Department at Sequoia Hospital will contact you
to have lab work done before your surgery.
- You will receive information from Dr. Dunbar’s office telling you
when your surgery is scheduled. However, your surgery time may change.
Someone from Sequoia Hospital will call you the day before your
surgery to confirm the information and request that you check in at
the Out-Patient Registration Desk 2 hours before your scheduled
surgery time.
- The Evening Before Your Surgery
- Do NOT have anything to eat or drink, including water, after 12:00
midnight.
- The Day Of Your Surgery
- For outpatient surgery, you should expect to be able to leave the
hospital 2-3 hours after you arrive in the recovery room
- Plan on having a family member or friend take you home. The
hospital will not release you unless you have someone to take you
home.
- The Day After Your Surgery
- Before you leave the hospital, Dr. Dunbar will give you written
instructions for your care, until you see her again
Call Julie Kilburg at Dr. Dunbar's office (650-364-3488) if you have
any questions.
